eBay has been touting it’s new Fashion Portal for a while and truthfully, what I want to know is this ‘are YOU using it?”
This little tidbit from a recent Auctionbytes story also is very intriguing!
“eBay’s new fashion Chief Miriam Lahage said eBay has 10 million fashion buyers and 20 million fashion listings daily. In a recent company press release, she said, “We have a lot of exciting partnerships at the planning stage right now. Our customers are in for some nice surprises – we’ll share the details as soon as we can.”
So, What are your thoughts? Do you find shopping on eBay for clothing EASIER than last year or HARDER?
I have to tell you I’m confused about shoes today, LOL
We carry the Lindsay Phillips Switchflops line at Kat’s Kloset, and her Liz ballet flats have proven very popular and well received. They are really well made, very nice shoes. Flats have never been my fave but I like the way you can change the snaps on these and bling them a little! When the new ‘Fall’ Catalog arrived, we had a blast looking at all the new colors she is bringing out. I can’t wait to get the Navy Blue in stock!
Then, we turned the page. With much fanfare, Lindsay announced “The Isabel” and we all looked at each other and groaned! It looked like a designer had take the heel (kitten) off the Lilly shoe that we love and stuck it onto the Liz that we also liked. But the combination we were sooooo not sure about.
Meet – the Isabel Okay – what do YOU think? I love the idea of interchangeable shoes but I just could not like this shoe. We figured at the slow rate we were expanding our Lindsay Phillips line – we could just leave this one till last? Now this morning I’m doing my fashion shoe research (hey, it’s tough but someone’s gotta do it, LOL) and I come across this shoe!

THIS is from the famous designer Christian Louboutin! I got it from ShoeWawa – go take their poll on whether ‘the return of the kitten’ is a Purr or a Hiss. But first, tell US – we at Kat’s Kloset gotta know now – was our first reaction right – leave it or do y’all just love love love the Isabel? Hey, we’ve been wrong before!
22 Ways to Say Black is a charity auction hosted by Swarovski Elements with 22 famous designers donated a one-of-a-kind ‘little black dress’. The dresses will be auctioned off on September 20th and all proceeds will be given to The American Cancer Society.
I love seeing the high fashion world getting involved in charity. While the expected prices of the dresses (minimum expected is $1500 per dress and some are expected to go as high as $22,000) are completely out of MY fashion world – I do want to cheer them on as they battle cancer. The line they use, “It’s time to wonder. Will there be a cure for cancer in my lifetime?” is very appropriate.
There is another way you can be involved, besides helping to publicize, they are actually selling a photographic book of the dresses. It will be a 144 page hardbound book with information as well as photos about the dresses, designers and stories behind the auction. Click on Auction Catalog to see where to purchase. There is also a Facebook Page with lots of details and info.
Well, recent consumer reports state that 90% of online shoe shoppers are happy with their purchase. Very cool and thank you Zappos for getting us there. I guess that is why shoe shopping is becoming so big that the major retailers are now jumping in.
Sears recently announced the opening of a specialty microsite within their sears.com site. The microsite will be hosted by fashion stylist Francesca Mills, will blend the feeling of blogs, social media and commerce with more engaging — and even useful — commentary. For example, a well-known mom blogger runs down the ins and outs of back-to-school shoe shopping.
The content covers trends for fashion, kids, fitness, and work. It even includes a feature called “Personal Shoe Shopper,” which allows users to upload photos of an outfit as well as their style parameters, and within 24 hours, they receive a selection of shoes.
There are a lot of cool videos here – many hosted through YouTube and Vimeo.
One other feature I thought was really cool was the Personal Shoe Shopper – you upload a photo of an outfit you are looking for the perfect shoe for. Add in some ‘fashion parameters’ and within 24 hours sears fashionistas will get back to you with style suggestions – I thought that was pretty neat!
Click on the photo to check it out but don’t forget, Kat’s Kloset can be your personal shoe shopper too! Just drop us a line and ask any question you have about the two shoe lines we carry – OneSoles by Dominque Barteet and Switchflops by Lindsay Philips. We’d love to hear from you!
Found another Mompreneur story for you – this one I found at
MomInventors.com
When Annette Giacomazzi’s daughter broke her SIXTH bone, and came home with a huge ugly cast, Annette had had enough. She whipped up a cover and matching sling, then a couple more for changes. The sets were an amazing hit. She discovered that each year there are over 4 Million fractured bones just in the US.
Annette’s goal is to transform the medical after-care market with functional and stylish designs that place the patients’ well-being first. She put the fun into function. Her company, Cast Coverz offers removable, washable covers for arms, legs, feet, hands and more. These colorful covers are fun and fashionable, but also highly functional, protecting the surrounding skin from irritation, preventing clothes from snagging and keeping orthotic devices clean. They are removable for autographing, washing and mood changes.
I love this story and it’s another turning lemons into lemonade, IMO
Here is yet another organization for Women Entrepreneurs. Interestingly, this one is devoted to Moms in Business. I have not explored the blog fully but wanted to pass along a resource to help as Moms in business grows!
It is so very good to see all these organizations and such springing up all to support Women Entrepreneurs.

 Tattoo stockings
Okay, I’m a chicken, really and truly! And while I’m not an admirer of the SERIOUS tatoo work, such as that worn by Kat Von D - I have to admit that there are ocassions when I might like to shock my hubby or family by showing up with one! Except for the pain part, that is. Needles and me are so not ever going to be friends.
So check out what I recently found on Etsy! Pantyhose (Stockings) with tatoos. I’ve seen the tatoo sleeves before and they are too much for me but this? THIS I could wear! And I’ve been drooling over them for almost a week. So, next time I go to an eBay event – check my legs, LOL!
This pair are by Spoiled Rotten on Etsy. Click the pic to see her store – she has lots of other styles to choose from!
A friend referred me to a blog that mentioned “Women of Achievement” month. I’ve been researching on Google and found several local celebrations, most seem to be arranged by the local YWCA but I can find no national mentions of this.
So – is there a ‘Women of Achievement’ month in your city, town, county or state? Do you participate in the YWCA? Do they know about this event?
Please leave your comments if you know a way I can further my research on this.
